Privacy and safety

Your family's photos and details stay private.

Bright Bubs is an app for parents of children from birth to five. You take a photo of a toy, and the app gives you a short game made for your child's age. A photo taken in your home should stay about the toy, and the details you give about your child should stay with your family.

Your photos

Only the toy in your photo leaves your phone.

  • The crop happens on your phone.

Before a photo is sent, the app cuts it down to the toy, removes any face, and removes the location stored in the photo.

  • People and pets are deleted.

Bright Bubs makes games from things. A photo of a person or a pet makes no game, and the app deletes it on your phone at once.

  • Only the toy is kept.

Bright Bubs keeps the cropped photo of the toy, so your toy box can show it. The photo is stored privately and is never public.

  • You choose every photo.

Bright Bubs never looks through your photo library. You take each photo of a toy in the app.

AI and your details

The AI sees the toy and your child's age, and never your child's name.

Bright Bubs uses Google's Vertex AI in the European Union, on paid terms under which Google does not use your data to train its models.

The AI sees

  • The cropped photo of the toy.
  • Your child's age in months.
  • Words you type about a toy.
  • What you tell the app your child enjoys.

The AI never sees

  • Your child's name. The app replaces it with "the child".
  • Your child's birth date.
  • Your notes, or the photos in them.
  • Photos of people.

How Bright Bubs earns money

Bright Bubs earns money from its subscription, not from your attention or your data.

Bright Bubs shows no ads, sells no data, and earns nothing from the toys you buy. The app has no advertising or analytics trackers, and crash reports are sent only if you switch them on. Your household's games, toys and notes are stored in the European Union.

Safe play

Every game is made for your child's age and the toy in front of you.

A Bright Bubs game uses only the toy in your photo and what your child can do at their age in months. Each game includes a short note on playing safely with that toy, written in advance from the advice of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and every game is checked before you see it.

Bright Bubs gives play ideas, not medical advice. It cannot see your child, so you stay close while you play together, as with any play. For questions about your child's health, ask your doctor or nurse, and in an emergency call your local emergency number.
